We love love…

What would you do for the one you love?

If you read YOU, by Caroline Kepnes, you will be pleased to know that Joe’s antics continue in book two, called Hidden Bodies.

In case you haven’t heard of the author:

Caroline Kepnes is the author of the hit book YOU, turned tv series. She is from Massachusetts and uses her knowledge of the area to her advantage.

In case you have never heard of the book:

Joe Goldberg is our new favorite sociopath. The second book delves into a new series of crimes and punishments that he believes are due to deserving people. His reasoning is sideways, but it looks as if his luck is picking up.

What do I think of the book:

I love Joe Goldberg. I hate Joe Goldberg. He is a guilty pleasure. He is passionate, loving, and supportive. But, he is also manipulative, a liar, and a murderer.

As introduced in the first book, the underlying topic of social media pervasiveness and distortion of facts presents an argument for Luddite-ism. While the advancement and access to technology allows us to REALLY be in the moment, it also removes us from really experiencing the moment.

Learning lessons from the past, embracing the future, and understanding the difference between need and want leads Joe to some intense growth in this book. Does it make him okay? No. Does it make him more relatable as a human, and give him more hope of redemption? Absolutely.

While in real life, one would hope for a resolution commiserate with his deeds, in this book, one really holds out hope that Joe will find his way back to humanity.

What did I think of this book:

I loved it. It moved at a good pace, resolved some issues left open in the first book, introduced new issues, gave us new characters, and left us wanting more…

Have you read it? Did you love him or hate him? Tell me below!
